These are the top 5 web design mistakes I often see on small business websites, which can absolutely lead to fewer conversions. Are you guilty of any of these?

  • Calls To Action Arent Front and Center

Consider the goal of your website and gently nudge your guests along, simplifying their experience and guiding them where you want them to go. Make it obvious what you want them to do.

  • Using Generic or Low Quality Images

users value good photography and can spot stock photographs a mile away.

  • Overcrowding

The space between the elements of a layout needs space to breathe. Designers and customers love "whitespace" because it minimizes clutter and makes it easier to consume information. It helps with hierarchy, organization, and streamlining the flow.

  • Getting Too Creative With your Navigation

How annoying is it when you visit a website and have no idea what to do first? This happens to me all the time. Don't create more work for your viewers for the sake of creativity. They'll just leave your site.
The top left is the most obvious place for a menu, and the top right is where most people expect to see a search bar.

  • Inconsistent Branding

Look out for mismatched logos, random fonts, or too many colors. There's no obvious reason for the website, and it leaves you feeling more confused about the business than before.
Use a style guide every time you post something publicly about your business.
